The Contracts Manager for Radar Systems & Sensors (RSS) is responsible for driving and supporting programs and projects within the dynamic RSS market segment to achieve business objectives. This includes providing pragmatic commercial advice, managing contracts from bid through to delivery, and supporting customer engagement and negotiations.

The role also contributes to the development and submission of quotes, bids, and proposals (including internal approvals), while ensuring effective contract management and execution. When required, the Contracts Manager will support other programs by delivering subject matter expertise, managing customer correspondence, and coordinating input and approvals from internal stakeholders.

Day to day tasks

  • Provide commercial oversight, governance, and management of RSS contracts to ensure program success
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships in partnership with Program and Contracts leadership
  • Develop and implement contractual strategies and Commercial Management Plans to drive business outcomes and customer satisfaction
  • Lead contract negotiations, strategy development, and performance initiatives, offering expert commercial advice
  • Identify and implement innovative commercial solutions to enhance delivery, reduce costs, mitigate risks, and increase revenue
  • Support business initiatives through development of business cases, negotiation of contract changes, and implementation of risk-reduction strategies
  • Collaborate with Program and Contracts leadership to monitor and drive contract performance
  • Shape and capture new business opportunities by engaging directly with customers and key stakeholders
  • Partner with Legal, Sourcing, and Export / Import (EXIM) to ensure consistent, efficient, and compliant commercial arrangements
  • Provide commercial and contractual leadership within the program team, offering guidance and support where required
  • Contribute to a positive and effective workplace culture

About you

  • Proven commercial leadership with a strong understanding of commercial practices in complex, multi-domain environments
  • Excellent drafting, writing, and communication skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Skilled in building and maintaining effective customer and stakeholder relationships
  • Collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and engage at all levels
  • Experience with ASDEFCON contracts and Australian Defence programs
  • Familiarity with Defence contracting processes and frameworks
