The Opportunity
The Director Strategy and Research is a new role that will inspire and enable a talented team of 60 + enterprise strategy and research and development (R&D) specialists that will identify emerging opportunities, shape organisation strategy and drive health outcomes across Australia.
This team will lead global horizon scanning, support strong decision-making and track organisational performance, ensuring the organisation remains agile, informed and future ready.
If successful, key accountabilities will include :
- Leadership : Inspiring and supporting enterprise strategy and specialised R&D teams, fostering the curiosity, collaboration and excellence required to navigate ambiguity, solve complex problems and generate health innovation opportunities.
- Championing Culture : Modelling and cultivating progressive mindsets and behaviours that promote trust, shared accountability, clarity and constructive risk-taking.
- Research and Insights : Strengthening and leading internal research, horizon scanning, competitor analysis, system thinking and future planning capabilities.
- Research Integration : Partnering with research and academic institutions to ensure strategy is informed by the latest science and system thinking; and working with innovation and development teams to bring opportunities to life.
- Strategic Planning : Leading enterprise strategic planning cycles, roadmap development and stakeholder alignment to vision.
- Organisational Performance Monitoring : Defining KPIs, building dashboards and leading enterprise reporting to manage risks and align performance to objectives.
- Executive Reporting and Communication : translating data into actionable insights and meaningful strategic stories that inspire and engage key stakeholders up to Board level.

A track record of leading strategy and R&D teams that have delivered biological product, clinical service or health-tech innovation that has led to improved health outcomes.Extensive experience integrating, research and development insights, health data, and global trends into enterprise strategy, planning, delivery, change and enablement systems and processesExperience influencing and aligning key internal and external stakeholders to vision, with a focus on storytelling and distilling complex information to drive collective impact.Experience leading innovation, growth and business transformation in health, science, government, or complex human service environments.Familiarity with cutting-edge research methods, futures thinking and ways of working that drive strategic and human centred outcomes at scale.The Benefits
