Principal Civil Engineer

Overview

Principal Civil Engineer – Land Development role with a global consultancy, Brisbane / Qld region. The position focuses on leading significant land development and infrastructure projects with opportunities for career progression and leadership of high-profile developments for private and government clients.

The Opportunity

In this role, you’ll take ownership of end-to-end project delivery across large-scale residential and mixed-use developments. You’ll play a key part in driving project success, building client trust, and mentoring emerging engineers within the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of major land development and infrastructure projects — overseeing all phases from planning through delivery to ensure successful outcomes for clients and stakeholders.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams , coordinating engineers, contractors, and external consultants to achieve seamless project execution.
• Drive project performance , maintaining oversight of budgets, timelines, and quality to ensure deliverables exceed client expectations.
• Act as the primary client contact , providing strategic advice, resolving challenges, and building strong, trusted relationships that lead to repeat work.
• Monitor commercial performance , identifying risks early, managing variations, and ensuring projects are delivered profitably.
• Support business growth by identifying new project opportunities, contributing to bids, and strengthening the company’s position in the market.
• Mentor and empower project engineers , fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the team.
• Champion delivery excellence , ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with both client objectives and company standards.

About You

You’re a results-driven Civil Engineer with a proven track record in delivering large-scale land development and urban infrastructure projects — from early planning through to construction handover. You thrive in a fast-paced environment where client relationships, commercial outcomes, and delivery excellence go hand in hand.
