About the Role

Alice Springs Hospital (ASH) is Central Australia’s primary acute care service, serving a catchment of approximately 50,000 residents across Alice Springs and up to 50 remote community locations. It has 209 beds and specialises in general and emergency medicine, surgery, maternity and paediatric services, including a 10‑bed intensive care unit and renal dialysis centre.

As a Social Worker, you will provide high quality culturally appropriate, effective, and contemporary Social Work assessment and intervention services to meet the needs of patients, their families and significant others throughout the hospital. Working as part of the front‑line Allied Health team you’ll provide both inpatient and outpatient services, participate in the after‑hours Social Work Services roster and supervise Social Work students and junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide culturally appropriate Social Work assessment and intervention services.
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary and multicultural team.
• Apply theoretical frameworks for interventions in trauma, crisis, illness adjustment, loss and grief.
• Plan and prioritise a high‑volume complex workload.
• Supervise Social Work students and junior staff.
• Participate in the after‑hours Social Work Services roster.
