Equifax is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Lead Data Scientist to join our team. In this role, you will be a key contributor, leveraging your expertise to build and manage a broad suite of credit models across both consumer and commercial domains. You will be responsible for the end-to-end development of models, from initial data exploration and transformation to deployment and ongoing monitoring and support.
This is a hands-on technical leadership position. While you won't have direct reports, you will be expected to mentor junior data scientists and lead project teams, driving the successful delivery of complex and impactful initiatives. Your ability to translate abstract business challenges into concrete data science solutions will be critical to your success.
What you will do
Design, develop, and deploy advanced credit models for both consumer and commercial portfolios.
Lead data transformation projects, ensuring data is clean, accessible, and optimized for model development.
Implement and maintain robust model monitoring frameworks to track performance, identify drift, and ensure model integrity.
Explore and apply agentic AI principles to enhance model performance and automate processes.
Provide technical and general mentorship to junior data scientists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
Lead cross-functional project teams, guiding the successful delivery of data science initiatives from conception to completion.
Effectively communicate complex technical concepts and project outcomes to senior leadership, including General Managers and above
Apply strong commercial judgment to scope and deliver solutions that directly address abstract business problems.
Contribute to evaluation of new data sources, provide recommendations on value of data sources, and design code to improve the productivity of Equifax, enhance and update code where needed.
Perform as lead technical data scientist for multiple technical and business domains, collaborating with other teams to develop predictive models, risk assessments, fraud detection, recommendation engines, etc. encouraging enhanced solutions and asking questions
Evaluate the technical work of experienced data scientists guiding them on deliverable quality and accuracy
What experience do you need
10+ years of total experience in a data science or related analytical field, with at least 2-3 years in a senior or lead capacity.
Qualification background - Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
Proven experience in credit modelling (consumer and / or commercial)
Expertise in model monitoring and maintenance.
Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Excellent communication skills with experience presenting to senior leadership.
Demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to solve abstract business problems.
