Base Salary : $168,965.00; Total Remuneration Package valued at $191,508.00 including leave loading and superannuation contribution.

Austral Public School supports a community which is increasingly diverse in socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. There are currently 856 students enrolled in 36 classes with 42 classes projected for the start of the 2026 school year. 85.6% of students are from a Non English Speaking Background (NESB), with the largest representation of language groups from the Arabic, Hindu, Nepalese, Samoan and Pakistani communities. The Italian language, heritage and culture are fostered through our Italian Community Language program and 1.75% of our students are Aboriginal. Our Language Background other than English (LBOTE) representation is 81%.

A strong culture of quality teaching through continuous reflection and high-quality professional learning exists. The teaching staff reflects a balance of experienced and newly appointed teachers, and we are committed to ensuring best practice, quality teaching and high expectations are embedded in all classes. We are supported by an active P and C who support school initiatives.

Specific Selection Criteria

  • Approval to teach infants and / or primary
  • Effectively initiate, lead and monitor the implementation of the school’s strategic directions, whole school programming and data analysis.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to manage diverse school initiatives which enable students, staff and the community to succeed and thrive
  • Lead and demonstrate exemplary systems knowledge which impacts whole school teaching and learning.

General Selection Criteria

  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

    An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
