About the team

Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Lead Platform Engineer to lead a team of 7 engineers in designing, building, and maintaining scalable, secure, and resilient platform infrastructure across cloud and on-prem environments. This role requires deep expertise in DevOps practices, CI / CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, observability, and modern cloud-native technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of platform engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Architect and implement CI / CD pipelines for both non-prod and prod environments using Azure DevOps and Git.
• Manage hybrid infrastructure (cloud and on-prem) with a focus on automation, scalability, and reliability.
• Drive platform security best practices and compliance across environments.
• Design and maintain microservices frameworks and container orchestration using Kubernetes.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform and Ansible .
• Implement monitoring and observability solutions using AppDynamics , Azure Application Insights , Splunk , and Datadog .
• Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis on production issues across AIX and Linux systems.
• Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to ensure seamless platform integration.
• Manage and track work using JIRA and ServiceNow .
• Act as Scrum Master for the team, facilitating agile ceremonies and sprint planning.
• Provide technical leadership in Azure services, including Azure CLI, networking, compute, storage, and identity.
• Maintain and optimize application servers such as IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and IBM HTTP Server .
• Write and maintain scripts in Shell and Python for automation and operational tasks.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate.
