Friendly Fortnightly Visitor for Older Lady

We are seeking a female volunteer aged 40–60, who would be able to make regular visits to a lady living in aged care in the Marion Council area, for a chat and a friendly game of Scrabble.

The role

This opportunity is available through St Jude's Aged Care Visitors Scheme. This is an Australia-wide, government-funded program which aims to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation in older people. Volunteers are asked to make fortnightly visits, with the goal of slowly building a friendship. Visits are generally 1–2 hours long, and timed to suit the person being visited and the volunteer. No aged care experience is required, just a friendly nature and genuine respect for older adults.

Need to know

A National Police Clearance is required. This can be arranged at no cost to the volunteer.
