As a Senior Claims Consultant, you’ll take the lead in managing complex life insurance claims with care, expertise, and integrity. You’ll ensure every claim is handled in line with our claims philosophy and industry standards while delivering clear, compassionate communication to customers, advisers, and partners. In This Role You Will
- Manage high-complexity Group Life Insurance claims, including large-value cases, litigation, and escalations, with a focus on Death, Total and Permanent Disability (TPD), and Income Protection products.
- Assess claims by interpreting medical evidence, employment history, legal documentation, and policy terms to determine validity and ensure fair outcomes.
- Apply analytical thinking and sound judgment to make evidence-based decisions aligned with policy provisions, regulatory standards, and the Life Insurance Code of Practice.
- Communicate empathetically and professionally with claimants, trustees, employers, and other stakeholders, providing clear explanations and guidance throughout the claims process.
- Collaborate with internal and external parties, including medical professionals, rehabilitation providers, and legal representatives, to support holistic claim resolution.
- Investigate complex cases with a keen eye for detail, identifying inconsistencies or missing information to ensure accurate and compliant claim outcomes.
- Uphold high standards of documentation accuracy, policy interpretation, and payment calculations to maintain quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
At least 2-4 years’ experience handling life insurance claims in a similar role.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect empathetically with customers during challenging situations.Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Health, or Allied Health are preferred.Diploma or Certificate IV in Life Insurance, or equivalent, is an advantage.Excellent time management and ability to prioritise tasks effectively.Additional Information
