About the Role
The Proposal Writer will play an important role in supporting Ageing Australia’s growth and development of impactful new initiatives via the development of high quality and compelling proposals and preparation of responses to grant / tender opportunities.
Key Stakeholders
External : Ageing Australia Members, government representatives and key sector stakeholders nationally, and other Ageing Australia stakeholders.
Internal : General Manager Services & Sector Capacity, Head of Programs, Head of Services, Director of Strategic Partnerships & Events, Director of Strategic Projects, Head of Innovation, Member Relations teams, Marketing and Communication teams.
About You
This position is responsible and accountable for delivering the following key outcomes :
Researching, preparing and writing content for proactive proposals and for grant and tender submissions, ensuring information is accurate, well‑structured and aligned with both formal requirements and organisational objectives.Proofreading and editing bid responses, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with client requirements.Scanning and monitoring tender portals, funding alerts, and utilising sector intelligence to identify new grant and proposal opportunities.Collaborating with internal and external subject matter experts to develop compelling, tailored content within the submission requirements (if applicable) and due dates.Supporting the development of draft budgets and ideation of new ideas.Maintaining and updating Ageing Australia’s proposals library and pipeline of activity.Managing consistent project management practices and documentation using project artefacts and templates.Maintenance of a continuous improvement environment supporting agile and robust decision making.Ensuring all project activities / initiatives are delivered within scope, contractual obligations, on time and within budget; and project reporting requirements are met within required timeframes.Capturing reviewer feedback and lessons learned (in collaboration with the Head of Programs) to strengthen future proposals and maintain a cycle of continuous improvement.Developing and maintaining reusable collateral such as templates, case studies, staff profiles, and past performance statements to support efficient and consistent proposal development.Direct focus and effort on achieving Ageing Australia’s vision, mission and strategic objectives.Always behave consistently with our organisation’s corporate values.Be accountable for implementation and adherence to organisational plans, policies and procedures.Take responsibility for personal performance and professional development through participating in formal and informal performance and development frameworks and processes.Comply with all Ageing Australia’s Work health and safety policies and procedures.Selection Criteria
Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, journalism or communications. Membership with the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) will be well regarded, but not compulsory.Brings 5+ years’ experience in preparing impactful and winning proposals for new, impactful and revenue generating initiatives.Can accurately edit others written material and craft clear, concise and engaging content.Is experienced in the use of generative AI.Strong project management, coordination and time management skills.Can interpret technical and operational information for diverse audiences.Possesses advanced Microsoft Office and document formatting skills.Demonstrated knowledge, experience and an understanding of the Aged Care sector, key reforms and challenges.Critical thinking and experience in developing, implementing and monitoring strategic and operational plans.Experience in providing high level customer service across all levels of the organisation in a timely, accurate and professional manner.Highly developed oral and written communication skills.Excellent digital literacy skills and competent use of online platforms and Microsoft Office applications.Strong numerical and financial literacy skills with the ability to interpret budgets, cost models, and financial data for inclusion in submissions.Flexible attitude with a ‘can‑do’ approach and a willingness to assist as required.Sets and maintains high standards of performance, both personally and for the organisation.Excellent people skills and ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, business partners and members.Ability to work across multiple teams, manage deadlines and multi‑task.Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives, industry partners, and team members.Strong work ethic and work history that would evidence commitment to Ageing Australia values and a genuine passion for aged care.Thrives in a collaborative environment but also has a high degree of self‑motivation.Is adaptable to changing timelines and focus.Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to form strong working relationships with colleagues and build credibility and rapport with stakeholders.Understanding and commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity, Access & Equity, Work Health & Safety and Ethical Working practices.How to apply
