Join to apply for the V250072 EL1 Assistant Directors, Operational Policy, Procedures and Training role at Administrative Review Tribunal . The Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) is seeking two Assistant Directors :

  • Assistant Director Operational Policy , responsible for leading a new, small team that develops the tribunal’s review‑related policies.
  • Assistant Director Operational Procedures and Templates , responsible for leading a team that coordinates, develops and maintains the tribunal’s review‑related internal procedures, forms and letter templates.

These roles work as part of the Accessibility & User‑Centred Design branch at the tribunal and can be located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney or Perth.

These exciting hybrid positions are available primarily on a full‑time ongoing basis; non‑ongoing positions can also be considered.

As part of the wider Operational Policy, Procedures and Training section, this is a unique opportunity to be part of a new team where you will be trusted to use your skills and experience to develop creative solutions to challenging problems. The right people for these roles will be confident communicators, with an ability to develop and sustain effective stakeholder relationships. Undertaking complex research and analysis to deliver informed and timely outcomes, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Remuneration : The annual salary range for the position is EL1 – $117,665 p.a. – $138,493 p.a., plus a generous employer superannuation contribution of 15.4%.

About the opportunity

The Assistant Director, Operational Policy will lead a small team in the development of review‑related policies, including helping to establish the way that operational policy development is undertaken at the tribunal. A confident communicator, you will :

  • Provide advice on complex or sensitive policy issues
  • Collect and analyse stakeholder feedback
  • Make policy recommendations
  • Lead and manage a small team
  • Have or be eligible to achieve a Baseline Security Clearance.
  • The Assistant Director, Operational Procedures and Templates will lead an established but expanding team in the coordination, development and maintenance of review‑related internal procedures, user‑facing forms and letter templates. As a confident leader and negotiator, you will :

  • Identify opportunities for improvement and facilitate a culture of continuous improvement
  • Ensure procedures, forms and letter templates are accessible and easy to navigate
  • Provide high‑level advice and support
  • Coordinate the maintenance of published procedures and supporting material
  • Adapt to the needs of different stakeholder groups
  • Lead and manage an expanding team during a period of change.
  • About you

  • The Tribunal requires Australian Citizenship as a condition of engagement.
  • All employees are required to undertake an Australian Federal Police Check and a Health Assessment.
  • Security Clearance – Have or be eligible to achieve a Baseline Security Clearance. (Please note the Assistant Director, Operational Procedures and Templates is not required to obtain a security clearance)
  • Desirable for both roles :

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or experience relevant to the key responsibilities of the role.
