The Policy and Project Officer support Government investment decisions and risk management in the development and delivery of projects and programs to successfully achieve outcomes.

This position contributes to the continuous improvement of Gateway policies, frameworks, procedures and templates, ensuring they remain current, accurate, and consistent. The role requires a balance of independent initiative and proactive communication, with a strong focus on maintaining high standards across assurance documentation and guidance materials.

This role supports the successful and high-quality delivery of Gateway reviews in alignment with the objectives of the NSW Gateway Policy and the REAF. Gateway Assurance aims to provide assurance to the NSW Government, as the investor, that projects and programs are effectively developed and delivered in line with government priorities. It also supports Delivery Agencies in achieving successful outcomes through effective project and program development and delivery.

Proactively building robust relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders is paramount, as is your contribution to improving the delivery of outcomes across the NSW Government through effective communication, collaboration, and advocacy with Treasury teams and agency counterparts.

You will be joining our Financial Management and Services Group and will be working within the Financial Stewardship & Public Report Division. Read more about your future Group and Division.

  • Broad understanding of the public sector environment, the policy process and relevant statutory requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to clearly convey technical and complex information and analysis in a concise manner, in plain English and in different ways (verbal, written and visual) appropriate to the audience and its purpose.
  • Excellent project management skills and experience coordinating and delivering projects within highly regulated and confidential environments.
