About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Firmware Tester to join our product development team. In this role, you will work closely with our firmware engineers as an integrated team member, ensuring that every product we deliver is robust, reliable, and free from defects.
The annual base salary for this role is AUD $90,000.
Responsibilities
- Test planning, reporting
- Automated, Manual and Exploratory testing
- Building automated test fixtures and python interfaces
- Develop and implement testing strategies for new products across hardware, firmware, and cloud interfaces
- Design and develop automated test setups as part of CI / CD pipelines for embedded appliances
- Create test plans, execute them, and report results for official firmware releases
- Perform manual and exploratory testing to ensure robustness and reliability of firmware builds
- Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware engineers, hardware specialists, and cloud teams to diagnose and resolve issues
- Enhance and refine the firmware release process, including tools, methodologies, and best practices
Skills
Strong python coding including use of pytest or similar frameworksExperience with IoT Frameworks, security and protocols, ideally including AWS IoT Core and MQTTExperience in configuring Jenkins server as build server for CI / CDWorking with hardware interfaces via multimeters, oscilloscope, digital logic analysersInteracting with software via serial and ethernetDemonstrate an understanding of Unix based OS, FreeRTOS and baremetal firmwarePay attention to details and strong in communication verbally and in writingRequirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)Test Automation : Experience designing automated test setups and integrating them with CI / CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.)Embedded Systems Knowledge : Understanding of firmware development lifecycles, debugging, and testing in embedded environmentsHardware Debugging Tools : Hands-on use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, digital logic analyzers, etc.Networking / Protocols : Familiarity with Ethernet, serial communications, MQTT, wifi / BLEOperating Systems : Exposure to Unix / Linux, Windows environmentsTesting Techniques : Manual, exploratory, and automated testingDocumentation : Ability to write clear test plans, reports, and defect documentationWhat we offer you
