About the Role

As an OT Cybersecurity / Network Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering secure and resilient systems for a major transport infrastructure project. Working closely with design leads, project teams, and cybersecurity specialists, you will ensure that cybersecurity is embedded throughout the engineering lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include :

Collaborating with design leads and multidisciplinary teams to achieve engineering milestones and project objectives.

Contributing to essential project documentation, including Management Plans, Design Reports, and Engineering Drawings.

Preparing and issuing Inspection & Test documentation, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with project standards.

Support in the implementation of networks and cybersecurity governance aligned with ACSC Cybersecurity Principles, the Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) Act, and the Essential Eight.

Working with OT teams to uplift security practices and ensure alignment with broader project goals.

Support in the design architectures for networks, servers, storage, virtualisation platforms, and hyper-converged infrastructure.

Conducting cybersecurity risk assessments and identifying and treating cybersecurity risks across OT environments.

Supporting incident response activities and driving continuous improvement in operational security processes.

Collaborating with cybersecurity operations teams to detect, respond to, and mitigate real-time threats, ensuring minimal disruption to critical services.

Deploying cybersecurity technologies that align with ICS cybersecurity standards and guidelines, addressing diverse risk scenarios.

Providing architectural guidance and technical input on the design and implementation of security appliances in line with the project’s cybersecurity framework.

Performing ongoing security maintenance, compliance checks, risk assessments, and audit support for OT systems.

Working alongside ICS engineers to assess and optimise system performance, including evaluating the impact of security controls on network and operational efficiency.

About You

Tertiary degree qualification (4 years) to Bachelor status in Engineering or a related discipline with experience working in industrial control systems

General or specific Cyber Security certifications e.g. CCNA, CISSP, GSEC, GRID, GICSP, OSCP CEH, CISM etc.;

Superior written and verbal communication skills, and computer proficiency with programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

Good Understanding with hands-on experience in Cyber Security technologies such as Log Management tools (SIEM), Network Security tools such as Firewalls (Cisco ASA and FortiGate preferred), IDS / IPS, DLP and Endpoint Protection products;

Strong knowledge and understanding of ICT infrastructure including servers, storage, networking, virtualisation, and hyper-converged systems.

Knowledge of recognised standards associated with the cybersecurity of industrial control systems (i.e. ISA / IEC 62443) and how to apply them
