This role focuses on managing a portfolio of personal injury and property liability claims across most jurisdictions in Australia for corporate clients and insurers, from appointment through to settlement, ensuring cost-effective and timely outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical advice in personal injury and property liability claims, with some exposure to financial line claims; opportunities for development in other product lines may be available in the future.
- Identify opportunities and support the team leader to exceed service level expectations, KPIs and regulatory requirements.
- Assist the Team Leader with managing workflow and resources.
- Participate in claim reviews and performance meetings with clients to discuss claim strategies, risks and outcomes.
- Manage a portfolio of sensitive or high-risk claims in accordance with regulatory guidelines and promote a positive risk culture aligned with the risk governance framework.
- Act as a point of escalation to influence outcomes that support the team and the business.
- Provide specialist advice on complex claims and act as a subject matter expert for the team.
- Collaborate with the claims team to provide technical advice and support to clients on claims within delegated authorities; develop competencies across industries and jurisdictions; attend client meetings to discuss strategies, risks and outcomes.

About You
You will be an experienced liability claims professional (ideally with exposure to financial line claims) with a proven track record in personal injury and property liability claims across Australian jurisdictions, consistently delivering strong client results.

Strong technical experience in third-party liability claims with at least 3 years’ experience.Proven history of managing claims and applying relevant state-based legislation and regulation.Tertiary qualifications in law, business or insurance (desirable).Experience with financial line claims is highly regarded; knowledge of employment practice liability and tax audit-related claims is a plus.Demonstrated prioritisation, adaptability, claims acumen, attention to detail, sound judgement and cost management awareness.Ability to identify key issues (jurisdiction, coverage, contractual and tortious liability, contribution, contributory negligence and quantum), analyze complex problems, manage reserves and develop solutions.Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to liaise with external experts including solicitors and engage in negotiations.Autonomous participation at external meetings, conferences and court appearances where required.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and insurance management applications.About Crawford
