Position Information

Cumberland High School is a comprehensive high school, with a population of approximately 1200 students, located in Carlingford. The school has a diverse cultural population including 73.9% non-English speaking background and 57 different languages. Specific Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position.

In addition to the general selection criteria, Proven ability to lead curriculum monitoring and assessment practices, to build capacity of staff, to ensure high-quality teaching and learning outcomes for all students.

  • Expertise in leading the implementation, evaluation and improvement of curriculum that foster a culture of high expectations, engagement, and equity for a diverse range of students.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, organisational and management skills to effectively coordinate and lead staff across multiple courses and with staff of varying teaching experiences.
  • Demonstrated capacity to build and maintain collaborative professional relationships within the faculty and across the school, fostering a culture of teamwork, trust, and shared responsibility.
  • Ability to lead an experienced faculty and work as part of a dynamic executive team in monitoring the implementation of the School Excellence Plan.

General Selection Criteria

  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department\'s Aboriginal education policy
