There are currently two (2) full time contract opportunities available.

These positions are offered as contract / secondment opportunities until 19 October 2026 with the possibility of extension. These positions are temporarily funded for a finite period.

POSITION OBJECTIVE

This position coordinates and enhances the Western Australia Police Force's emergency management and counter-terrorism prevention and preparedness capabilities by developing and providing direct coordination across all Emergency Management (EM) exercises, debriefs and other EM-related training and events, to ensure the agency enhances command and control capability in response to emergencies and terrorism. Provides support to the activities and functions of the Counter Terrorism and Emergency Response Command (CT&ER) Division, inclusive of the District Emergency Management Committee (DEMC), to manage and coordinate emergencies in accordance with the EM Framework.

SPECIALIST PRE-REQUISITE (Leave if applicable)

It is a requirement that the position holder is successful in obtaining and maintaining a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 1 security clearance for the duration of their appointment in the position. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to hold and maintain the NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 1 security clearance. Any applicants who are currently not an Australian Citizen must be aware that this is an essential requirement to fulfil this position (please refer to the attached position description). Whilst there is nothing to preclude applicants from applying for the position if they have not yet been granted Australian Citizenship, applicants who are successful should be aware that they cannot be appointed unless they are in the process of applying for Australian Citizenship and are eligible to become an Australian Citizen prior to appointment.

Applicants are asked to provide a two (2) page Statement of Claim addressing all the Work-Related Requirements outlined in the attached Position Description Form.

  • Knowledye of emergency management and counter terrorism preparedness education and training
  • Analytical and conceptual skills

Please include any relevant qualification and / or experience in Counter Terrorism, Emergency Management, and the development and implementation of training and assessment programs.

Applicants are also required to submit a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV). Your CV should provide enough detail (dot points are sufficient) to allow the selection panel to assess your skills, experience and qualifications relevant to the Key Accountabilities of the attached Position Description Form.

The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant’s ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor / manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.

OTHER CONDITIONS

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancies, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies throughout the metropolitan area. In addition to this, should the successful applicants decline or vacate the advertised positions, then the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.

Integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the recommended applicant for a position is not a current WA Police Force employee. Any relocation costs associated with appointment to these positions may be the responsibility of the successful applicants.
