About the role

Enerven is leading the delivery of some of the most significant energy projects in Australia, such as the 480 MWh Summerfield BESS connection, the Hydrogen Jobs Plan 275 kV connection, the 2.8 GWh Eraring BESS, and the 500 kV Goulburn River Solar Farm connection. We collaborate with utilities across Australia, partner with developers including Origin, AGL, Wartsila, Fluence, and Tesla, and provide maintenance and services for ElectraNet.

We are looking for a Principal Design Consultant to take on a strategic, senior role within our engineering delivery team. This person will offer expert technical guidance, mentorship, and risk management strategies, while staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovative design solutions for Enerven’s high‑value, high‑risk projects over $50 M.

You will play a key role in delivering value‑driven engineering solutions during bid development and early works, supporting the Head of Bids and Proposals and the Manager of Engineering Delivery. Your expertise in Substation Automation and Cyber Security will be a critical differentiator for Enerven in a competitive market.

Key responsibilities

• Execution of the Enerven growth strategy by de‑risking strategic and major projects solutions during the tender and bid development phases.
• Mentoring of Senior and Junior Design Managers.
• Provision of a centre of excellence for the development of engineering value‑adding solutions.
• Development and implementation of efficiency opportunities for high‑performance and sustainable long‑term engineering solutions.

About you

Enerven seeks a candidate with approximately 20 years of experience in renewables, electrical infrastructure and utilities, with a strong background in concept design, tenders and bid support. The ideal person will also have expertise in Secondary Systems, Protection, SCADA and Industrial Cybersecurity, and a proven ability to deliver innovative, value‑adding engineering solutions.
