As part of our Specialty Programs, Acute Medicine offers an exceptional opportunity to expand your clinical expertise while working within a supportive and collaborative environment. You will gain comprehensive, hands‑on experience caring for patients with complex and evolving medical needs, supported by expert mentors and structured education.

Employment Type : Temporary Full Time, Temporary Part Time Until February 2027 (12-month programs)

Position Classification : Registered Nurse

Remuneration : $36.39 - $51.09 Per Hour + 12% Super + Salary Packaging

Hours Per Week : Contracts range from 32 - 38 Hours Per Week

Location : Awabakal Country - John Hunter Hospital

Whilst this position is open to all individuals, it is targeted to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people under section 21 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. ACUTE MEDICAL PROGRAM : This program features 16-week rotations through the Medical Assessment and Coordination Unit, E1 General Medicine Ward, and Ward F2, focusing on Respiratory, Infectious Diseases, Dermatology, Immunology, and Rheumatology. It includes structured study days and supernumerary clinical training days, with options for 32 hours per week or full-time.

I have a passion for caring for the general medical patient, particularly the elderly and patients during end of life care. I also love the team nursing that comes with the general medical speciality. I love helping people and being part of patient's health journey.
