Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and recommendations that are pragmatic, commercial, timely and cost effective. Areas of advice include general contracts, data, financial services regulation, AML / CTF Act & Rules, privacy and spam;
- Identify legal risk and work closely with the business to deliver advice that balances legal risk with commercial objectives;
- Draft and review agreements and other legal documents;
- Be a team player in assisting the Legal Team to support REA’s Financial Services business (which includes Mortgage Choice and Campaign Agent);
- Promote REA company values and encourage teamwork through multi-business and key stakeholder collaboration; and
- Be accountable for identifying and managing long term risks associated with decisions and proactively develop plans to manage these within the scope of your role.
Who We’re Looking For
Law degree, current Legal Practicing Certificate or eligible for a current Legal Practicing Certificate;Minimum 3 years post admission experience in either private practice or in house (in-house experience or secondment experience preferred);Ability to provide commercially focused legal support, particularly in the area of financial services. Areas of expertise should include consumer credit, AML / CTF and payment systems regulation. Expertise in privacy and / or spam would be looked upon favourably;Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills with both legal and non-legal stakeholders;Ability to manage a large range of matters in a fast-paced environment; andAbility to contribute effectively to a high-performing team.The REA Experience
