PurposeThis role provides accounting and commercial support to the Generation, Wholesale, and Support Functions, to assist in meeting their goals and objectives.It provides accounting and administration support to Pacific Blue for monthly accounting transactions, budgeting, forecasting and analysis.The role assists in the areas of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Settlements, Bank Account management, whilst also providing broad support to other areas of the team.This role involves being able to demonstrate a strong attention to detail; as well as having the ability to understand, process and articulate information to the Finance team and wider business as appropriate.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepare monthly cost center reports including analysis of variances to budget / forecast to discuss regularly with cost center ownersPreparing journal entries where required for month end closeCo-ordinate the preparation of the monthly executive reporting packSupport the preparation of the PHPL Group statutory accounts and standalone statutory accounts as requiredLiaise with the Auditors and other compliance activitiesPreparation, analysis and reporting of the Generation, Wholesale and Support Functions annual budgets and quarterly forecastsPrepare month-end and year-end management accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly accrual and prepayment listingsAccounting for inventory movements in adherence with Inventory accounting policyAnalyse electricity market pricing and contribution to periodic revenue reportingAssist Commercial team in Renewable Energy Certificate Purchase AgreementsEnsure continual assessment and identification of process and system improvementsReceivables and banking Preparation of Ad hoc Revenue invoices as requiredManage the end of month Bank ReconciliationsOther activities Ad hoc responsibilities and projects as directed by Finance Manager – Generation, Wholesale and Support FunctionsProvide quality and timely financial support services in an environment of significant business growth whilst simultaneously delivering significantly improved processes, systems and reporting as the finance team strives to become a best practice business support function.JudgmentsDetermine the applicability of accounting standards and tax laws to business transactionsEffectively determine when to escalate issuesUnderstand team goals and objectives and prioritise work to best meet those objectivesAbility to determine adequacy of own work and the depth of research and analysis requiredAnticipate queries from financial information users and prepare logical and concise explanationsKnowledge, experience (including qualification) and skillKnowledge and Experience

Good knowledge and understanding of accounting standards and Australian taxesGood understanding of the key components of the management and statutory reporting processes as well as tax compliance processes in AustraliaSAP experience will be highly regardedSkills

Ability to operate an integrated accounting system effectively and efficiently (SAP R / 3 preferable)Ability to work autonomously and also be a collaborative team player with good teamAdvanced Excel and basic MS Office skillsPower BI skills highly regardedAbility to identify business process, systems and reporting improvementsStrong written and verbal communication skillsOrganise and prioritise work to ensure team goals and objectives are metAnalyse data and transform it into meaningful information for user. List the learned and applied abilities to effectively complete tasks to the level of required performance. This can include technical and interpersonal skills, as well as the level of proficiency required on relevant tools and software.
