  • Responsibilities
  • Underwriting & Business Rules
  • Ensure full compliance in respect of Underwriting Standards, with any approved adaptations for local markets.
  • Oversee fronting relationships.
  • Policy / Contract Wording
  • Prepare policies and other product terms and conditions ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements / obligations.
  • Ensure commercial contracts reflect agreed pricing and underwriting approaches.
  • Pricing
  • Undertake pricing activity for all products and clients using approved pricing methods.
  • Ensure appropriate quality checks are in place, and full transparency around areas of uncertainty. Undertake routine reviews to observe differences between actual and expected experience, and adapt models accordingly.
  • Revenue and Growth Support
  • Provide support for the business through timely delivery of services, including product development and pricing. Proactively identify opportunities to support profitable growth
  • Portfolio and Risk Analysis
  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the performance of products and contracts offered by the business unit. Recommend actions that could be taken to address threats and opportunities. Ensure timely response to emerging risks and issues.
  • Financial Management & Business Planning
  • Ensuring underwriting rigor and discipline to ensure that business financial targets are met. Manage the budget for own area as approved by the local CEO.
  • Reporting
  • Ensure regular and transparent reporting to executive management team and functional managers
  • Skills
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Underwriting or Pricing
  • Demonstrated ability in advising organisations ways to adapt to underwriting trends.
  • Proven success in pricing, claims.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, and has the ability to analyse information to identify problems and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to influence and build effective relationships at all levels of the business.
  • Tertiary qualifications in actuarial or business studies desired.
