Governance & Resource Management Group / Grants, Data and Assurance Division / Data and Assurance Branch
The Data and Assurance Branch is responsible for administering the Australian Government Assurance Reviews Process. The Branch also leads and supports whole-of-government data initiatives to inform policy and service delivery and optimise use of government resources. We provide policy advice to the Minister for Finance. We coordinate decisions and actions across Commonwealth agencies and with state and territory governments to use data and digital opportunities to greatest effect.
Assurance Reviews are short, intensive reviews, conducted by a team of independent Assurance Reviewers at critical points during a project's or program's lifecycle. The reviews provide an arm's length assessment of the project / program against its specified objectives, and early identification of areas requiring corrective action. For clarity, please note the positions being advertised do not involve performing the work of an Assurance Reviewer.
Additionally, all members of the team, regardless of their level, will gain exposure to all aspects of the coordination and commissioning functions as part of on-the-job training and professional development.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute towards successful delivery of major projects and programs across government, particularly those that are high risk and high cost.
The Assurance Reviews Unit is responsible for commissioning and coordinating Cabinet-mandated Assurance Reviews (Gateway Reviews and Implementation Readiness Assessments). Assurance Reviews are in place to strengthen the oversight and governance of major projects and programs and assist Commonwealth agencies to deliver major projects and programs successfully.
