Thales Australia builds and supports vital Protected Vehicle platforms; the Bushmaster and Hawkei. Through life support projects include Capability and Survivability enhancement design, development and installation, engineering support services and routine and unscheduled maintenance / repair and overhaul services.
Reporting to the Wider Company Trade Compliance network, the Protected Vehicles Trade Compliance / Export Controls Officer will manage and oversee export control compliance activities and processes within the business, namely Australian and U.S. export laws, and guide the business to ensure overall customs compliance with facilitating import and export activities for the Protected Vehicles Product Line
Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsuring that all projects and business support functions strictly comply with the requirements of the Australian, U.S. (ITAR, EAR), European and all other applicable export control rules and regulationsKeeping the businesses informed regarding export control and global trade developments.Creating and maintaining procedures and instructions to comply with all applicable laws and regulations in the area of trade complianceEnsuring that Project teams fully understand their access, re-export and transfer obligations under US export control regimes (ITAR, EAR, FMS)Assisting with internal compliance reviews and audits; and conducting spot checks on processes and trade compliance data integrityReporting non-compliance, corrective actions and impact to the Director Trade Compliance.Conducting ad-hoc training to relevant staff on export control and global trade mattersContributing to Protected Vehicles leadership meetingsAbout YouA current Australian security clearance at the requisite level or ability to obtain one.3-4 years of experience in international trade compliance, export controlsExperience in interpretation and implementation of government policyExperience with Australian and U.S. export controls laws, and experience in overall compliance with facilitating import and export activitiesTertiary qualifications in international commerce, economics, policy or international relations will be highly regarded, as will previous experience in the Defence industry in a trade / export control compliance roleGood to KnowInternational Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
