- Position Description
- Reporting to a Supervisor, the belt splicer tasks will include but are not limited to, the inspection of bulk handlingconveyor belts and their associated component. Installation, repairs, and maintenance on the conveyor belts andassociated components. Working within a team environment to
- Ensure all work meet or exceed expected safety and quality requirements using the Company's IntegratedManagement System (IMS).
- General Responsibilities
- Actively support and keep in close communication with the immediate supervisor and / or team leader.
- Ensure that each and every job is thoroughly understood before commencement.
- Inspecting conveyor belts and their associated components Ensure Safety, Environmental, and Quality compliancethrough means such as : attending regular Toolbox meetings, thereby remaining informed or able to relay relatedinformation to others to help implement any corrective actions and recommendations; undertaking dailyhousekeeping practices in the immediate workplace and surrounding areas to ensure a clean and safe workenvironment; conducting hazard assessment programs (Good to Go'); Minimum 3 per shift; reporting / correcting anyunsafe conditions or practices and ensuring hazards are controlled until corrective action is taken, and simulatingother activities to achieve similar required expectations of this nature.
- Be prepared to respond to any emergency jobs required.
- Provide accurate and complete information regarding job activities and equipment conditions back to theimmediate supervisor.
- Install, repair, and maintain conveyor belt both on client's sites and in the workshop areas.
- Moving tools and equipment as required mobilizing from yard to site as required.
- Decontamination of tools and equipment including mobile plant and vehicles as required.
- Wear and look after appropriate Personnel Protection Equipment (PPE) as required for the task being undertaken.
- Other tasks as directed by your Supervisor / Superintendent.
- Skills, Knowledge, Experience, and Abilities
- C" class motor vehicle license
- Current confined space entry
- Current Working at heights
- Level 3 Belt Splicer with relevant experience on Conveyor Belt Splicing and associated components such as rolleridentification, roller frames, skirting systems, belt cleaning systems, conveyor belt tracking units, transfer chutesand conveyor structure.
- Ability to work in a team with limited supervision
- Ability to undertake FIFO roster ideally 2 / 1
