Job descriptionWelcoming, engaging manner with customers Professional attitude and an eye for detail Pride in your personal presentation and the quality of your work Open / close duties as required Processing / packing and shipping of web orders Attending to customers in-store and via telephone or web contact Gift wrapping Computerised POS & EFT transactions Unpacking orders and receiving stock into inventory Merchandising Light cleaning duties, such as sweeping, dusting, bins in / out etc Ad hoc duties within the usual scope of retail (ie. Banking, Post Office run etc) A sense of delight and accomplishment in doing things well Competency in gift-wrapping and visual merchandising Ability to follow through multi-stage tasks from commencement to completion, even while multi-tasking Competency in computer skills (Mac OS) Willingness to undertake light cleaning tasks Excellent spoken and written English language skills High degree of accuracy in visual, written and numerical tasks Fast uptake of new information and processes (there's a lot to learn!) Minimum availability of 2 days per week (including some weekends) with the opportunity to increase your regular hours in the future (additional shifts are also available during busy periods such as pre-Christmas) Australian or NZ citizenship or permanent residency, or an appropriate long-term work visa with no cap on hours worked per fortnight A workplace which values their staff and establishing long term relationships which are beneficial to all parties Opportunity to work in and learn from a well established and continually growing small business Award wages (commencing at Retail Level 3) Generous staff discounts Wages paid weekly, superannuation paid monthly Regular, mutually agreed working hours (rostered monthly in advance) Full-day shifts (8 hours Mon-Sat / 6 hours Sun) (NB. training period may comprise shorter shifts, but no less than 3 hours) No early mornings or late nights Fully paid training period Please include a cover letter (introduce yourself and tell us something about yourself that makes us want to meet you in person!). - Work in a pleasantly paced, high-end gift store in Hawthorn, near convenient public transport and parking
- Regular hours, plus opportunity to work additional shifts over the pre-Christmas season
- Fully paid training period, earning Award wages or above (starting at Level 3)
Blackbird & Fox is open 7 days, in the heart of Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn. Our primary focus is on Australian designed and made products, and providing ethically made, quality, long lasting wares (no novelty landfill)!
Ideally, you will have an interest in arts / crafts / design, and experience in retail or a similar customer service role (experience with Vend / Lightspeed & Shopify both highly regarded). Kindness, honesty and reliability are imperative.
