Kuraby Special School is a Prep - Year 12 school for students with a verified intellectual disability. Many students have additional disabilities such as ASD, physical impairment, hearing impairment and vision impairment.
We provide highly individualised programs for students to develop and demonstrate knowledge, skills and understanding of the Australian Curriculum as well as addressing disability-specific issues within the areas of communication, social participation and emotional wellbeing, health and personal care, safety and access to learning.The successful applicant will demonstrate :
- Knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and ability to differentiate to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners
- Flexibility and willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Effective communication skills and ability to plan
- Strong relational skills to support strong partnerships between staff, students and families and the wider school community
- Knowledge of a range of positive behaviour support strategies to engage students in learning
- Awareness of the diverse range of learners in a special school setting
