Job Summary :

The Head of Data Centre Development will be responsible for leading the delivery and expansion of ESR’s data centre projects in Australia. This role involves strategic planning, site selection, project management, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder coordination to ensure the successful execution of our data centre initiatives in Australia. The ideal candidate will be familiar with real estate development and will have extensive experience in either data centre design, construction management, and / or data centre operations, combined with a strong understanding of the Australian data centre market.

Key Responsibilities :

• Strategic Planning & Development : Help develop and execute strategies for the expansion and development of ESR’s data centre developments in Australia, aligning with company goals and market demands.
• Site Selection & Acquisition : Oversee the identification and assessment of potential sites for new data centre developments, conducting feasibility studies and negotiating acquisitions.
• Project Management : Oversee the entire lifecycle of specific data centre projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget and compliance with quality standards.
• Regulatory & Compliance Management : Familiar with Australian regulatory frameworks, obtaining necessary permits and ensuring adherence to local laws, zoning regulations, and environmental guidelines.
• Stakeholder Coordination : Collaborate with internal teams and external teams in a matrixed environment, local authorities, contractors, operators, hyperscalers and investors to drive project success.
• Financial Oversight : Oversee the development of budgets and cost management as well as optimize capital expenditures to ensure financial viability. Driving approvals of new projects and advocating for equity for the Australian business
• Vendor & Contractor Management : Engage and manage third-party consultants, contractors, and suppliers to ensure project efficiency and cost-effectiveness, partnering with in-country ESR resources to maintain company-wide processes and consistency.
• Sustainability & efficiency : Implement best practices for energy efficiency, sustainability, and operational reliability in data centre design and construction.
• Risk Management : Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure smooth project execution.
