The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.
The AEC values and commitments are an essential component of our operating environment and frame how AEC staff work. The AEC's focus is on electoral integrity through the values of quality, agility and professionalism.
The Event Recruitment and Management Teams sit within the Event Workforce Optimisation Taskforce (EWOT) in National Office. Each team is located in their respective State and Territory Office and assists with the recruitment and management of the AEC's event workforce, which includes surge staffing and the Temporary Election Workforce (TEW), in the delivery of an electoral event.
The Event Recruitment and Management Team will implement a nationally consistent workforce attraction model locally and will utilise peer network capabilities to collaborate, provide support and create efficiencies.
While working remotely in your state, the Workforce Lead reports to the Director of EWOT. You will be responsible for managing the recruitment and staffing activities for the AEC's event workforce. During electoral events, this will be a fast-paced and high-pressure environment where key staffing milestones and immutable deadlines will need to be met.
Using your highly developed and sound workforce planning skills and people experience, you will work closely with your State or Territory's Operations team to understand their staffing requirements. You will provide guidance and assurances on all aspects of staff attraction, onboarding, and management processes.
You will manage a small team of staff monitoring and managing timelines, milestones, and key contractual staffing deliverables in the lead up to and during an electoral event. You and your team will be required to analyse complex data, produce accurate and timely reports and information regarding event workforce sourcing and allocation, with a focus on areas of concern.
As part of the continuous improvement and innovation of AEC's staffing approach for future electoral events, the Workforce Lead will also contribute to EWOT's work in uplifting event workforce attraction and the management of the event workforce, to ensure the AEC continues to make evidenced-based decisions to attract, develop and maintain a highly capable, agile, and trusted temporary workforce.
