The Event Planner is responsible to Deputy Director Event Planning and works within the Event Planning team that coordinates, manages and executes events to achieve Air Force strategic intent and outcomes.
Events include, but are not limited to, the biennial Air and Space Power Conference, Exercise Pitch Black, the biennial Avalon International Airshow, Chief of Air Force Change of Command, and Senior Leadership Team farewell functions.
Established in 2018 the Directorate of Air Force Events provides Air Force with one centralised area of expertise for the planning, management and delivery of significant Air Force events. These events typically involve the coordination of multiple Air Force units at on and off-base locations across Australia and are hosted by a star-ranked officer. Attendance will often include senior ADF, Vice-Regal, ministerial, parliamentary and international guests.
We are searching for an energetic and highly motivated Events Officer who has corporate events experience from an agency or internal background. You will be responsible for every part of event preparations, such as choosing venues, approving menus, developing seating plans, and evaluating success afterward.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate a keen client service approach with a proven track record of delivering unique and creative experiences. Ideally you will have existing knowledge of local event suppliers and venues and will have a detail oriented and a hands-on work ethic. You will be someone who loves brainstorming, thrives on variety and enjoys a challenge. You will be genuinely passionate about dealing with people and providing an amazing customer experience.
As the Events Officer, you should be a self-starter, well-organized and possess a sound knowledge of vendor management. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are vital in this role. You are someone who thrives in a fast paced, delivery focused environment, and you are comfortable working under pressure and with little supervision.
