The Shire of York is seeking a motivated and skilled Planner to play a key role in supporting positive development outcomes across our unique built and natural environments. This role requires strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to engage constructively with stakeholders and ensure development aligns with the Local Planning Scheme, Council policies, and relevant legislation. Key Responsibilities
Assess and determine development applications in accordance with the Shire’s Local Planning Scheme, policies, and relevant statutory controls under Council delegation.
Lead the development and review of local planning policies, procedures, and guidelines, relevant to the area.
Brief and instruct Council’s solicitors on enforcements actions, prosecutions, appeals and appear as an expert witness as required in accordance with Council’s policies.
Provide technical advice and expertise to internal and external stakeholders in relation to statutory planning issues, including subdivisions.
Monitor development compliance and participate in associated enforcement actions.
Provide support for the planning appeals process as required, including documentation, preparation and appearance as required.
Remuneration :
The salary for the position is offered in accordance with Level 7 of the Shire of York Inside Staff Enterprise Agreement 2019 ($95,657.66 – 100,297.77). Placement within the range will be determined by the applicant’s skills and experience.
