Chapter Lead

The Chapter Lead is accountable for developing Suncorp's capability and capacity in the relevant domain of expertise.

• What you'll do
• Responsible for working with Tribe Leads and Product Owners to oversee allocation of Chapter members.
• Responsible for identifying expertise and resource gaps and training or hiring the talent needed.
• Responsible and accountable for performance management; overseeing, providing feedback, and developing Chapter members to help improve domain knowledge and better serve the Squads in which they work.
• Responsible for maintaining best-in-class Chapter expertise and resources in order to deliver the right knowledge and skills to Tribes and Squads.
• Accountable for ensuring the "how" of the work performed by Chapter Members is aligned with established roadmaps, standards, best practices and other guardrails.
• Manage team performance to achieve departmental strategy, targets, goals and budget.
• Through leadership and drive, create a project environment which results in exceptional staff and customer satisfaction and which is underpinned by professionalism and a sense of urgency.
• Actively collaborate across the division and function to support the achievement of objectives.
• Facilitate the use of the EPG framework, project management methodologies (e.g. PMBOK, Agile) and Lean practices to ensure successful execution of Bank projects.
• Actively promote a culture of Risk and Compliance awareness.
• Manage and motivate a highly skilled team.
• Empower squads to self manage. Remove obstacles.
• Support designing career paths with People & Culture to outline progression for practitioners within the domain.
• What you'll bring
• 10+ years of technical expertise in the relevant capability.
• Experience with resource planning and allocation within and across organisations.
• Experience in leading teams through periods of change.
• Experience developing, coaching and engaging technical professionals.
• Strong leadership skills and passion to develop others. Ability to manage, coach and develop technical professionals.
• Ability to support team members to remove obstacles.
• Ability to particicipate in the development and design of guiderails and of the practice.
• Ability to provide clear and effective guidance (guiderails, standards) insteam of solutions.
• Successful record of matrix management, ideally including managing nationally distributed resources.
• A proven ability to collaborate effectively across the organisation.
• Open communicator, with ability to tailor leadership style to the context and the individual.
• Intellectually curious and eager to learn new skills and capabilities.
• Ability to bring a data-driven approach to decision making, both in day-to-day management and in making strategic trade-offs.
