- About the role
We are currently seeking a Commercial Analyst to join our Trading and Portfolio Management team based in Sydney. Reporting to the Manager Portfolio Analysis & Pricing, you will collaborate with key business partners across Alinta Energy within Trading & Portfolio Management, Retail Markets and Group Finance to establish and deliver against business unit financial targets. Understanding current energy market conditions and company position to provide an up to date view on risk, opportunities and assist management with effective delivery / mitigation.
- Additional responsibilities will include
- Manage the profitability of the BU by overseeing P&L, translate to management for risks and taking corrective actions as required
- Maintain a current and thorough understanding of the Australian energy market and AE's positions
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to formalise strategies that underpin financial targets
- Maintain an understanding in changes in the market and position (trading, FPC, deals) to provide an up-to-date view on financial risk
- Interact and liaise with Group Finance to understand differences between actuals and forecast to ensure anticipated results are in line with reported results
- To be successful you will have
- Tertiary qualifications in business, economics, commerce, statistics or other quantitative discipline
- CA / CPA or post-graduate qualifications desirable
- Extensive relevant experience in the full range of financial accounting activities - including general accounting, financial planning and analysis; and reporting
- Detailed knowledge of financial and quantitative analytical techniques
- Financial analysis experience in Australian energy markets
- Experience in providing analysis and commentary to senior management
