Brickworks Building Products is a leading Australian building materials company with a strong commitment to environmental and sustainability stewardship and we are seeking a motivated Environmental Manager to join our team in Rochedale, Queensland.
Reporting to the General Manager – Brickworks QLD, you will be responsible for ensuring that all manufacturing and quarry sites across the Brickworks QLD business remain compliant with environmental licences, permits, and approvals, as well as all relevant legislation and standards.
Duties include but are not limited to :
- Develop and implement environmental management systems and procedures.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, the public and employees on environmental and WHS matters.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental licences, approvals and legislation.
- Provide technical support to management and operational staff to maintain and improve environmental systems.
- Monitor and coordinate environmental projects, ensuring they stay within budget.
- Identify opportunities to reduce environmental and energy costs.
- Prepare accurate environmental reports and licence applications by deadlines.
- Notify plants promptly of any required environmental corrective actions.
- Assist plants in maintaining compliance with environmental licences, acts and regulations.
- Conduct internal audits and assist with external environmental inspections as required.
- Provide accurate feedback on environmental performance to all management levels.
- Contribute to the Brickworks Sustainability Strategy, including sustainability reporting and environmental product claims.
- Conduct and record monthly environmental inspections across SEQ Brickworks QLD sites, collaborating with plant managers to resolve hazards and ensuring all sites maintain up-to-date records.
- Collate, log, and review monthly water, waste, resources and energy emissions carbon data across SEQ sites, coordinating with teams and monitoring compliance across other QLD sites.
- Coordinate annual spill drills and organise spill kit training with certified trainers across all QLD sites, maintaining training records.
- Oversee quarterly servicing and replacement of spill kits and bund filter cartridges by licensed contractors, ensuring safety documentation is completed.
Success Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field.Proven experience working with key QLD regulatory bodies.Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, standards and compliance practices.Willingness to travel to multiple sites across SEQ and regional QLD.Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail.A proactive, solutions-focused approach.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.Why join us?
