Policy Officer Strategic Projects

The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (the Reef Authority) is a Commonwealth non-corporate entity, and a statutory agency established by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Act 1975 (Marine Park Act), reporting to the Minister for the Environment and Water. Our objective is the long-term protection, ecologically sustainable use, understanding and enjoyment of the Great Barrier Reef for all Australians and the international community through the care and development of the Marine Park.

We’re looking for a strategic, skilled policy and project professional to help shape the Reef Authority’s response to key external threats and drive forward major initiatives. You’ll play a pivotal role in aligning our strategic direction, managing policy projects, and collaborating with stakeholders to maintain the Reef’s resilience.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-impact programs including :

• The Reef 2050 Long-Term Sustainability Plan
• Sustainable Fisheries
• Protected Species
• Traditional Owner Partnerships
• International and World Heritage activities

You’ll work closely with senior leaders, provide expert advice, and represent the Authority in external forums - all while being part of a small, high-performing team.
