  • PURPOSE :

    The Civil Designer will utilise computer-aided design programs to draft, produce, scale and fine-tune drawings and maps for infrastructure projects (e.g. roads, bridges, railways).

    Working collaboratively with other disciplines, the Civil Designer will take responsibility for developing design deliverables to agreed quality, time and budget, working automonously on your own project or collaboratively as a team member on larger projects.

    RESPONSIBILITIES :

    • Preparing conceptual and detailed design and technical drawings using CAD programs or other engineering software for review by engineers, in accordance with the relevant guidelines, standards and codes of practice
    • Ensuring designs take into account associated planning, survey, traffic, electrical and landscaping requirements
    • Prepare detailed documentation to meet contractual requirements and quality standards
    • Work collaboratively with national Engineering and Project Management team members to deliver work packages as required
    • Participate in project meetings to understand requirements, share expertise and collaborate with team members to deliver project outcomes and value
    • Prepare records and manages the filing of documentation, drawings and communication in accordance with company guidelines and processes
    • Assist with the production of tender and business development documentation and drawings
    • Develop and maintain strong, professional working relationships with clients, contractors, project stakeholders and team members
    • Review engineering drawings to ensure compliance with CAD Standards and Quality Systems
    • Provide support and guidance to less experienced designers / draftspersons
    • Uphold the reputation and highest ethical standards of Red Fox and Engineers Australia
    • Promote Red Fox values and a positive working culture
    • Identify areas of continuous improvement and implement strategies to close the gap
    • Ensure all files and online documentation are kept updated and maintained to a high standard
    • Comply with all relevant Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) processes, policies and obligations
    • Adhere to the Red Fox Code of Conduct, and report any incidents or breaches to the executive team
    • QUALIFICATIONS :

    • A combination of relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. Associate Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering disciplines) and relevant commercial experience
    • SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / BEHAVIOURS :

    • 1 to 3 years' relevant experience in a Civil Design role
    • Demonstrated knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, regulations and codes pertinent to the design and systems related to civil infrastructure projects (including MRWA and / or TMR requirements)
    • Knowledge of fabrication, construction and operations in civil infrastructure projects, with particular focus on structures and design
    • Strong communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to prepare technical design drawings and documentation to a high level
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), and virtual meeting and collaboration tools (e.g. Teams, Zoom, SharePoint)
    • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
    • Experience with BIM modelling and Digital Engineering
    • Strong organisational skills and ability to determine priorities and meet concurrent project deadlines
    • Methodical approach to allocated work to achieve individual and team objectives
    • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong, professional working relationships
    • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team to achieve team objectives and quality outcomes
