  • About the role
  • The role is in support of Victoria Police Operational Communications in the areas of Public Drunkenness Reform and Quality Review.

    The role is in the remit of the Operational Communications Division, State Emergencies and Support Command and is performed at the premises of a key stakeholder, ESTA (Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority) at 107 Overton Road, Williams Landing.

    As part of a team of 4 Victoria Public Service staff dedicated to providing excellent customer service to the community and to key stakeholders both internal, and external to Victoria Police, you will contribute directly to the implementation of Public Drunkenness Reform in Victoria by providing support to Police officers in the field, and by providing a liaison point for community and government welfare and outreach services and other key stakeholders, such as ESTA, and in support of the Police Communications Shift Manager.

    You will also contribute to the Quality Review team in facilitating the confidential provision of data and audio recordings for use predominantly in Police prosecutions. You will also facilitate Freedom of Information requests and provide information in answer to subpoenas. You will monitor and report on workload therein.

    You will report to the Police Communications Division, Project Officer (VPS 4).

    You will perform variable rostering (shift work), based on operational demand and at the direction of the Officer in Charge, Police Communications Division. Shifts may be any hours, any days in response to community needs and applicants will need to be flexible and agile.

    • Your duties will include
    • Public Drunkenness Reform Duties
    • Facilitate referrals to outreach services in conjunction with and in support of Police Communications Liaison Officers and Police and Protective Services Officers in the field. Ensure proper service is maintained during periods worked
    • Make decisions on appropriate courses of action relating to referrals to outreach services
    • Maintain records pertaining to requests received and actions taken
    • Learn and become proficient in the use of ESTA's Computer Aided Dispatch solution (CAD)
    • Support all objectives of the Public Drunkenness Reform Project (PDRP) by fostering positive relationships with ESTA employees and promoting the PDRP, internally and externally
    • Report periodically to the Project Officer
    • Quality Review Team Duties
    • Facilitate requests for the provision of CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) data (Event Chronologies) and audio recordings (000 calls & Police Radio transmissions)
    • Duties as directed by the Senior Sergeant in charge of the Quality Review Team Portfolio
    • Maintain records pertaining to requests received, requests actioned, and results provided to requestors
    • Report periodically to the Project Officer
    • Manage and maintain a proper and efficient system for the sharing of data and audio recordings
    • Manage and maintain a Quality Review Team "Quick Reference Guide" and other documents as required
    • Ensure data safety and security according to Victoria Police & ESTA guidelines and policies

    • One (1) x full-time, fixed term position (until 30 June 2026) available.
