BGC's Materials Technology Centre (MTC) is a centralized NATA accredited technology hub using the latest LIMS software, specialized purpose-built testing equipment and facilities to provide accurate and timely test results to enable the delivery of our client's initiatives and strategies.
The OpportunitiesDue to an expanding workload, we have a position available to join our Physical Laboratory at Materials Technology Centre.
The role in the physical laboratory is a hands-on role, and responsibilities include but not limited to compression tests, various physical tests such as expansion, shrinkage, heat of hydration, particle sizing, fineness, and other testing.
Weekend work and overtime may be required
Your typical day will includePreparation and testing of cementitious and construction material samples in the physical laboratoryPerforming equipment calibration and basic maintenanceEnsuring compliance with relevant safety, health, and environmental requirementsEnsuring testing is performed in accordance with industry standardsEnsuring accuracy of test results and timely output of workDeveloping professional working relationships with key customers (internal and external)Opportunities to learn and work across multiple laboratories within MTC (Cement Chemical and Physical Laboratories, Concrete, Asphalt)About youTo be successful in this role you will need :
Experience in construction materials testing and samplingExcellent people skills with an ability to communicate effectively at all levelsDetail oriented with strong time management skillsUnderstanding of Australian Standards and knowledge of NATA ISO / IEC 17025 requirementsCompetency with relevant technical systems and LIMS such as QESTLab desirable but not essentialCurrent Driver's LicenceRelevant tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline e.g. civil, chemical, or materials (desirable but not essential) or certificate III in laboratory skills or Cert IV in laboratory techniquesWhat we offerBacked by over 60 years of experience in the building industry, BGC operations spans manufacturing through to construction.
