BGC's Materials Technology Centre (MTC) is a centralized NATA accredited technology hub using the latest LIMS software, specialized purpose-built testing equipment and facilities to provide accurate and timely test results to enable the delivery of our client's initiatives and strategies.

  • The Opportunities
  • Due to an expanding workload, we have a position available to join our Physical Laboratory at Materials Technology Centre.

    The role in the physical laboratory is a hands-on role, and responsibilities include but not limited to compression tests, various physical tests such as expansion, shrinkage, heat of hydration, particle sizing, fineness, and other testing.

    Weekend work and overtime may be required

  • Your typical day will include
  • Preparation and testing of cementitious and construction material samples in the physical laboratory
  • Performing equipment calibration and basic maintenance
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant safety, health, and environmental requirements
  • Ensuring testing is performed in accordance with industry standards
  • Ensuring accuracy of test results and timely output of work
  • Developing professional working relationships with key customers (internal and external)
  • Opportunities to learn and work across multiple laboratories within MTC (Cement Chemical and Physical Laboratories, Concrete, Asphalt)
  • About you
  • To be successful in this role you will need :

  • Experience in construction materials testing and sampling
  • Excellent people skills with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Detail oriented with strong time management skills
  • Understanding of Australian Standards and knowledge of NATA ISO / IEC 17025 requirements
  • Competency with relevant technical systems and LIMS such as QESTLab desirable but not essential
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline e.g. civil, chemical, or materials (desirable but not essential) or certificate III in laboratory skills or Cert IV in laboratory techniques
