The People, Strategy and Operations division at the Department of Education is seeking a VPS 6 Manager with significant experience in Employee and Industrial Relations and who is team focussed with strong conceptual, analytical, writing and stakeholder management skills to join the Policy, Workplace Relations and Business Partnering branch on a temporary basis.
The Policy, Workplace Relations and Business Partnering is responsible for developing and maintaining the Department's Human Resources policies and guidelines for the public service; managing the industrial environment and providing strategic expert advice and consultancy support to internal stakeholders and managers on human resources and employee relations matters.

The role also supports stakeholders through the provision of strategic and specialist advice on complex HR issues and will have responsibility for one or more HR policy development projects. You will also have the ability to take a strategic approach to challenges, build strong relationships and can excel in supporting a corporate Human Resources function for a complex organisation.
A key accountability is to develop a deep understanding of the business and deepen insights through the use of data intelligence to identify business needs and issues, providing solutions, strategic advice, and counselling in areas such as underperformance, case managing employee relations issues and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
The role requires strong skills and experience in employee and industrial relations and is accountable for supporting recruitment activity; resolving issues about terms and conditions of employment; building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships; delivery of excellent customer service; advisory and support in the resolution of complex queries; and coaching around high level, complex people management issues.
A tertiary qualification in a relevant field is desirable, but not essential.
