Chief Operating Officer at Business for Doctors Job Description – Team Leader – Business for Doctors Business for Doctors (BFD) is the principal organisation for a group of companies with various roles and owners that provide education, training and financial literacy to medical practitioners, medical staff and the greater medical community. This is a new role in the organisation.
The Role The Team Leader is responsible for overseeing and managing a remote team, ensuring they work effectively to meet organisational goals. This role involves leading by example, providing guidance and support, and ensuring tasks are completed to the highest standard. The position requires leadership experience, familiarity with office tools, and experience in event management or healthcare. There is an opportunity for career advancement into senior management roles within the organisation.
Role Title : Team Leader Business for Doctors
Reporting to : Chief Operations Officer / Chief Executive Officer
Contract : 12-month contract with a view to ongoing permanency
Average of 38 hours per week, calculated over 4 weeks. Standard Australian Business hours with days in lieu for time worked at weekends and events to be taken as negotiated with the COO. The person undertaking this role will have a probationary period of 3 months.
Location : Australia – East Coast preferred, work from home.
Special Conditions : This position is primarily remote, with domestic travel required for BFD Education Events, major BFD events and potentially international events.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Management Lead, supervise, and mentor a remote team to achieve set targets and objectives. Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively, ensuring a balanced workload. Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environment. Oversee Marketing Performance Monitoring Monitor team performance, providing regular feedback and conducting performance evaluations. Identify and address performance issues, implementing corrective actions as needed. Set clear goals and expectations, aligning with organisational objectives. Communication Serve as the primary point of contact between team members and upper management. Communicate company policies, procedures, and updates to the team. Facilitate team meetings, ensuring alignment across remote members. Problem-Solving & Decision-Making Address and resolve conflicts or issues within the team. Make decisions to enhance team efficiency and productivity. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes. Training & Development Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for team members. Encourage professional growth through setting personal development goals. Onboard new team members, ensuring smooth integration. Event Management Work closely with the Event Manager to ensure the success of BFD Education events. Attend BFD Education events consistently, approximately once a month or every other month. Oversee and participate in the planning and execution of major BFD events. Travel to major BFD events and potential international events as needed. Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure event success. Reporting Prepare and submit regular reports on team performance, project progress, and any issues to upper management. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and adjust strategies as necessary. Minimum Qualifications At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role, with a proven track record of managing a team. Strong organisational skills with strong attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other office productivity tools, with an aptitude to learn new software and systems. Excellent communicator - able to interact with people of all levels in a confident, professional manner. Ability to think outside of the box with a sense of urgency. Flexible team player willing to do what it takes to get the job done; adaptable and enjoys a challenge. Demonstrate ability and temperament to work with sensitive information. Has strong business sense and can decipher priorities and make sound judgment calls when needed. Is directly accountable to the CEO through the COO for meeting role responsibilities. Is accountable to the COO for the day to day operations for Business for Doctors. Is accountable to the COO for meeting agreed goals and appraisal outcomes. Decision Making Consults with all relevant stakeholders in decision-making matters, as appropriate, ensuring the best interests of all are maintained. Takes direction from the COO / CEO. Judgement Has the ability to prioritise within the requirements of the role. Consults the COO / CEO as appropriate. Provides accurate information using discretion and judgement. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree (Business, Project Management, Law, Commerce, Economics - highly regarded). Qualifications and experience applicable to the role. Worked in a similar role previously. An unrestricted Australian Drivers licence and Australian Passport. Seniority level : Mid-Senior level
