Key responsibilities
- You will
- Lead the implementation of comprehensive training programs for the continued learning of Office staff, that align with the Office's goals and objectives.
- Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and training requirements within the Office.
- Develop and implement a cultural capability plan that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Office.
- Collaborate across teams to assess the Office's current cultural landscape and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide guidance on integrating diversity and inclusion principles into HR policies, recruitment processes, and employee development programs.
- Provide advice and support, and act as the coordinating point for learning and development opportunities for the Office.
- Prepare detailed reports, briefing notes and submissions in relation to learning and development strategies and activities.
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships and partnerships with relevant internal and external stakeholders, to develop learning materials, source external training opportunities and develop the capacity of Queensland Ombudsman staff.
- Work as a member of a small team of human resources professionals to provide support to the Office.
- Develop, review, and update policies and procedures in line with the Office's strategic direction.
- Communicate policy changes effectively to all employees and provide necessary training on policy adherence.
- Support the implementation of performance agreements, including setting objectives and conducting performance reviews.
- Work closely with the HR Manager, Senior Officers and Executives to understand the needs of the Office and align training initiatives with business objectives.

- Contribute significantly to fostering a skilled, compliant, and engaged workforce. Your expertise in designing and delivering impactful training programs, coupled with your strategic approach to policy development, will drive positive organisational change and promote a culture of continuous learning and development within the Office.
- You will be expected to
- Work collaboratively with other team members, participating in meetings and training programs, and actively monitoring, reviewing and assisting with improvements to policy, procedure, process and administrative practice across the Office and stakeholder agencies.
- Work in accordance with the Office's Code of Conduct and values; workplace health and safety legislation; confidentiality policies; all other relevant policies, directives and legislation.
- Meet personal performance expectations and standards.
- Undertake other duties as directed by relevant senior officers.
