About the opportunity We have an opportunity available for an experienced commercial lawyer to join our legal team based in Melbourne. Your role will be as a trusted advisor and partner to Australia Post and its subsidiary companies. You will be joining a collaborative and high performing in-house legal team. You will contribute towards our commercial success through the provision of legal services on a diverse range of projects and matters.
What does the role involve? Reporting to theDeputy General Counsel, you will be responsible for advising stakeholders across the Australia Post group of companies. You will focus on :
Delivering smart, commercial advice / drafting and negotiating contracts that achieve business objectives and allocate risk in accordance with current risk appetiteAdvising the business on a wide range of legal and regulatory issuesIdentifying legal issues in existing business operations and new business initiativesSupporting the development, implementation and maintenance of legal documentation and toolkitsSupporting the development, implementation and maintenance of training, policies, procedures and compliance programs to promote business understanding of legal rights and obligations and a culture of complianceKeeping across legal and regulatory developments and anticipating emerging trendsOptimising the value and quality of legal services from external legal resources
What are we looking for? You will have 5+ years relevant post-admission experience, having worked at a top or mid-tier firm, or demonstrated in-house experienceYou will hold an unrestricted Australian legal practicing certificateYou will have commercial acumen with excellent negotiation, drafting, communication, and stakeholder engagement skillsYou will have the ability to build strong relationships and effectively influence internal and external stakeholdersYou will be a proactive lawyer with a positive attitudeYou will be a team player, support your peers, and promote the value and reputation of the legal teamHow we'll deliver for you Join one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse workforces in Australia, with people of all ages, genders and walks of lifeWe deliver on our values of Trust, Inclusivity, Empowerment and Safety every day.
