The Department of Treasury and Finance provides economic, financial and resource management advice to help the Victorian Government deliver its policies. We strive for excellence in financial and economic management to improve the lives of all Victorians.

The new Gender Responsive Budgeting Unit sits within the Financial Frameworks team and has been established to embed gender impact analysis in the Government's budget decision-making processes and to ensure outcomes for women are measured as part of the budget decision-making process. The Financial Frameworks Team has also been tasked with identifying options for Government's consideration to embed Gender Responsive Budgeting in legislation.

About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Principal Legislation and Policy Development Officer (VPS6) to join the DTF Budget Strategy, Financial Frameworks team on a 12-month, fixed term contract.

  • The key accountabilities are to
  • Lead the development of policy and implementation options to embed Gender Responsive Budgeting in legislation, for consideration by Government
  • Lead interjurisdictional research to support policy development
  • Manage the preparation of documents such as policy discussion papers, briefings for senior executives and Government including material for Cabinet, and stakeholder communications
  • Engage with senior stakeholders within DTF and across the Victorian Public Sector to build support and constructive engagement as options for legislative change are developed.
  • Identify solutions to issues and be a key contributor in the development of products such as capability development materials
  • Confidently represent DTF at forums and establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in DTF, and across departments and agencies, often at senior levels
  • About you

    To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate the following :

  • Demonstrated experience delivering outcomes through the provision of high-quality advice to senior management or government on policy and legislative options
  • Ability to work collaboratively, finding new ways to deliver outcomes
  • Ability to constructively engage with stakeholders to ensure relevant perspectives are incorporated into policy options and legislation
  • Demonstrated experience preparing written information and analysis at an advanced level for decision makers, with content and style appropriate to the audience

    Vaccination
