  • Catering and Functions Manager
  • to join our team from January 2025, to oversee and elevate our food service operations across the College, managing both our in-house Cafe and Canteen as well as the coordination and catering of functions and events throughout the year.
  • Your Role

As the

  • Catering and Functions Manager
  • you will play a crucial role in leading our in-house catering team and managing all aspects of our College's food services. Your role will include planning and delivering nutritious school meals, overseeing catering for events, and ensuring a culture of food safety through the highest standards of quality, safety, and service. The role will involve working 38 hours a week across 42 weeks of the year. It is supported by an experienced Canteen Supervisor and a range of baristas and food services staff.
  • Responsibilities Include
  • Oversee the daily operations of the College's food services, including menu planning, food preparation, and service delivery.
  • Coordinate catering for school events, such as functions, parent evenings, sports days, staff meetings, and special celebrations.
  • Collaborate with staff and external suppliers to coordinate event logistics and catering requirements.
  • Continuously assess and improve catering operations to meet the evolving needs of the College community.
  • Monitor turnover, profitability and margins of the food services across the College.
  • Manage budgeting, ordering, and inventory control to optimise resources and reduce waste.
  • Handle procurement and supplier negotiations to obtain quality products at competitive prices.
  • Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene, in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Lead, train, and motivate the catering team, fostering a positive and productive working environment.
  • Integrate opportunities for Food & Hospitality students to participate in food service operations relevant to their training.
  • Support the mentoring and training of students in partnership with teaching staff.
  • Explore initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of catering operations.
  • Manage external users of facilities outside of school hours.
  • Key Selection Criteria
  • Proven experience in catering management, preferably within an educational or similar setting.
  • Strong understanding of food safety standards, allergen management, and nutrition guidelines.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and events simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience in successfully leading and motivating a team, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service and a culture of food safety.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours as required for school events and functions.
  • Proven ability to conduct oneself in a way which develops personal respect, respect for the College and the teaching profession.
  • Essential Qualifications
  • Have a current Positive Notice working with children Blue Card, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Qualifications or trade certificates in one or more of : hospitality, event management, kitchen operations or chef.
  • Current First Aid and CPR qualifications (preferred)
