Senior Staff Specialist or Senior Medical Officer Children & Adolescent Services

Fixed term temporary part time opportunity to provide specialist clinical and clinical service planning expertise in paediatric and adolescent clinical services to guide the planning and development of a significantly expanded Children and Adolescent Service, at The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH) and associated workflows. The transformational change is expected to result in TPCH becoming the second largest paediatric service in Queensland.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values :

  • Develop a model of care for children and adolescent services that is consistent with the Clinical Services Capability Framework of the new children and adolescent service at TPCH.
  • Establish new, and / or leverage existing, collaborative professional relationships with key stakeholders at the Queensland Children's Hospital, to inform service planning elements including referral flows and escalation pathways.
  • Actively explore and implement alternatives to hospital admission where clinically appropriate. Minimise unjustified variation in care and drive increased reliability and consistency of clinical services using standard operating procedures, care pathways, and appropriate training, assessment and coaching of staff.
