Pharmacy Assistant

About the role

In this role the duties undertaken ensure pharmacy services are safe, effective, economical, timely and of a high standard.

• Some of the key responsibilities of the role are
• Maintain appropriate stock levels of scheduled and unscheduled pharmaceuticals.
• Prepare and distribute pre-pack medications.
• Assist with packaging of medications into dosing sachets using an automated tablet packaging machine.
• Assist with inventory management within the pharmacy department including ordering, receiving, storage and distribution of pharmaceuticals, including controlled S8 drugs.
• Manage, distribute and deliver imprest to the wards.
• Manage pharmaceutical inventory to minimise inappropriate waste and stock movement, by checking expiries and rotating stock, and to maximise stock turn over.
• Assist the pharmacist with the preparation of prescriptions, and inpatient supplies all before final checks, including PBS S100 items.
• Assist with the preparation of medication records by data entry in computerised programs and the collation and maintenance of pharmacy data.
