About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager Solution Design and Engineering to join our Assets and Digital division as part of the Digital Solutions branch. This pivotal role will lead the establishment and enhancement of key digital delivery competencies within the organisation. You will drive strategic direction and operational excellence across Business Analysis, Testing, Transition Management, and other digital engineering functions. Your leadership will ensure the delivery of high-quality, innovative solutions that align with Essential Energy’s goals and regulatory requirements. You will provide strategic advice, guidance, and support to senior stakeholders and subject matter experts, ensuring that digital initiatives and projects are aligned with enterprise-wide architecture.

Key responsibilities :

Provide strong leadership and strategic direction in the establishment and management of a team of technology professionals, facilitating capability uplift to support organisational objectives and continuous maturity growth

Lead the establishment and management of competencies across Business Analysis, Testing, Transition Management, and other digital engineering roles

Ensure the adoption of Agile frameworks and tools across relevant teams

Collaborate with other delivery teams to ensure fit-for-purpose resource allocation on projects and programs

Provide technical guidance and support through the technology delivery cycle

Ensure the training and skills uplift across the competencies, aligned with Essential Energy’s key digital competencies

Ensure resource forecasts, management and recruiting are aligned to the business need and strategic direction under a competency model

Seamlessly integrate external capacity into teams and projects utilising external partners

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive successful delivery

This is a fixed term opportunity for 12 months.  This role can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint with Port Macquarie being the desired location.

About You

You are a seasoned professional with a strong background in software development and delivery management roles. You possess excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a proven track record of leading and motivating cross-functional teams. Your technical expertise in Agile and DevOps methodologies, along with your project management skills, will be crucial in planning, risk management, and resource allocation. You are familiar with emerging technologies like cloud computing, big data, and AI, and have knowledge of architecting and engineering cloud-based solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or relevant qualifications.
  • Agile certification or relevant experience.
