Join to apply for the Collections and Conservation Volunteer role at Queensland Government About the Role Join the Museum of Lands, Mapping and Surveying as a volunteer and help preserve Queensland's cartographic history. Established in 1982, the museum holds a rich collection of maps, instruments, photographs, diaries, and artworks. You will support the Senior Curator in managing and caring for this unique collection.

Responsibilities Support re-housing of artifacts and construct custom nesting solutions to protect their integrity. Participate in cleaning objects following conservation best practices. Implement preventive conservation measures to prevent deterioration. Assist in documenting new acquisitions with accurate records. Perform other duties as required with a flexible and proactive approach. Candidate Profile We seek someone passionate about history and heritage, with excellent communication skills. A background or current studies in Museology, Cultural Materials Conservation, or related fields is highly regarded but not mandatory.

Additional Information This is a volunteer position with applications remaining current for 12 months. It offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the preservation of Queensland's cultural heritage.
