About the role
This position is responsible for the coordination of a high quality, integrated assessment and response program for children and young people within the TSA Family Violence Services (FVS). This specialist role is designed to :
Coordinate the delivery of specialist high quality child focussed interventions and group work to infants, children and their mothersProvide specialist child-focussed education and authoritative direction to staff to ensure child focussed practice is performed to meet the needs of infants, children and their mothers accessing FVS programs.Provide specialist support to children 0-18 and mothers who have experienced family violenceEnsure that FVS addresses the unique risks posed by FV to childrenEnsure that FVS seeks to enhance child well-being.Work collaboratively with team members and external service providers to provide an integrated continuum of support to children.You will successfully
Providing therapeutic intervention support for children (including group work)Engaging children, through play assessing for development and cognitive milestones and referring as appropriate to therapeutic supports, to reduce the impact of family violence related trauma (eg. Home visits with case managers to assist with mother's intake / assessment and case planning processes)Engaging with mothers and children to conduct child specific risk assessment and risk managementProviding secondary consults and authoritative direction to staff regarding children with particular focus on risk and traumaHolding space for the child's voice as appropriate with regards to Family Law and Child ProtectionProviding information and resources to families that is relevant, accurate, up to date and easy to understand.Coordinating with case managers and other relevant staff the referral of mothers and their children to appropriate services where requiredAssisting case managers in developing child centred case plans and family case plans and referralsProviding ongoing education and training to staff that is child focussed, including strategies to rebuild the mother child bond.Recommending engagement techniques for infants, children and young people.Advocacy and capacity building of mainstream services in identifying and responding to children affected by FVThis is a full-time, permanent position located in Dulwich Hill, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Awd Lvl 5.
You will have
Degree qualification in social work, welfare (social sciences), community development or related fieldBe a member and registered with a relevant accredited peak body (AASW, APS, ACA etc)Experience in service delivery with children and families who have experienced traumaExperience with women and children who have experienced family violence.Strong history of working with children and families from diverse backgrounds and with a complex range of support needs.Relevant child protection requirements are obtained for example Working with children check.A national police record check is requiredWe are committed to providing a safe environment for our people.
