- AQF Certificate III (including at least two years of on-the-job training) or Certificate IV or higher qualification.
- At least 1-2 years of experience as gardener.
- Should have full-time working rights in Australia.Main Responsibilities :
- Performing routine watering of lawns, plants, and trees using appropriate irrigation techniques to manage water consumption effectively and prevent overuse.
- Pruning and shaping hedges, shrubs, and trees to encourage healthy growth and maintain aesthetic appeal, disposing of organic waste through raking, mulching, and composting.
- Preparing garden beds and planting areas by cultivating soil, applying soil improvers, and ensuring optimal conditions for plant establishment.
- Recognising signs of plant stress, pest infestations, and fungal or bacterial diseases, and implementing appropriate control measures in accordance with environmental guidelines.
- Spreading fertilizers and applying pesticides and herbicides using safety protocols to enhance plant health and protect against pests and weeds.
- Maintaining lawns and grassed areas by mowing, edging, aerating, dethatching, and removing weeds to promote even, lush growth.
- Following site-specific landscaping layouts to determine appropriate locations for planting and installing drainage solutions.
- Propagating and planting various plant species including trees, shrubs, flowering plants, ground covers, and bulbs; applying mulch to safeguard plant roots and conserve soil moisture.
- Operating and maintaining a range of gardening equipment and machinery including lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and hand tools such as spades, rakes, and pruners.
- Inspecting and caring for tools and equipment, ensuring they remain in safe working order and compliant with workplace safety standards.
- Communicating with team members, supervisors, and clients to discuss gardening plans, timelines, and progress, using industry-appropriate terminology.
- Working independently and as part of a team, often unsupervised, while efficiently managing tasks and time under varying environmental conditions.
- Evaluating soil quality and texture to determine its suitability for planting and recommending soil enhancement strategies as needed.
- Installing temporary and permanent plant support structures such as stakes, trellises, and guards to ensure proper plant development and protection.
- Assisting in the selection of suitable plants and landscaping materials based on environmental conditions, seasonal requirements, and visual impact.
- Laying new lawns using instant turf rolls and preparing areas by levelling soil and removing debris to create a stable foundation.
- Occasionally constructing minor hardscape features such as small gravel paths or garden edging to support the overall design and functionality of landscaped areas.
- Using chainsaws and other equipment to remove dead or diseased tree limbs and reshape tree canopies as required to maintain health and safety standards.
- Monitoring the health of trees and larger plants, identifying signs of decay or damage, and implementing remedial action including treatment or safe removal.
- Promoting sustainable work practices by minimizing waste, recycling organic material, and using environmentally friendly products where possible.Salary - $73,150 plus superOnly eligible and shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
